I purchased this harness several days ago for my 10-year-old, 65 lb dog who is quickly losing the use of her legs. We had been using a simple support harness, but it would constantly slip from her chest to her waist, making it less effective. This new harness is a game-changer; it fits securely around her head with strong velcro, ensuring it stays in place and doesn’t slide down her body. The photos and description really don’t do it justice—it’s nicely padded with excellent support around her neck and chest, making it both comfortable and secure. I primarily use it to help her get into the car so she can still enjoy trips to the park with our other two dogs. We also have stairs at home, and the sturdy rubber hand grip and the 2-foot extender are lifesavers, reducing the strain on my back when helping her navigate the steps. The metal buckles and leash attachment ring add extra strength and durability, which I appreciate. My dog has a greyhound-type chest—large in the chest, tapering to a narrow waist—and the large size, based on the measurement chart, fits her perfectly. She wears it all day without any discomfort. While some owners of male dogs have mentioned fit issues in the genital area, this hasn’t been a problem for us. The only downside is that there were no instructions included, but the video on the Amazon page was helpful, and I figured it out in about 10 minutes. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the harness, especially for the fair price, and I’m glad to have found something that works as well as advertised

First, it’s important to note that this isn’t meant to replace a cone. However, after my dog had a tumor removed, her wound has been taking months to heal. My other dog is terrified of the cone, so this sleeve has been perfect when I’m at home to give her a break from wearing it 24/7. My dog has even managed to break out of 30″ Covetus cones in the past, so it’s a relief to find something that stays on well and gives her some comfort. It’s also great for walks because the sleeve is waterproof to an extent—wet grass doesn’t soak the wound dressing, which means fewer bandage changes. We haven’t tried it in the rain since my dog hates it, but I can imagine it would hold up well. One thing to be mindful of is that the sleeve can get hot, similar to a wetsuit, so it’s important to keep an eye on your dog for signs of overheating, especially in warmer weather. Cleaning the sleeve is simple—I’ve found that hand washing it with Dawn dish detergent in warm water works well. After rinsing thoroughly, I roll it in a towel to press out the excess water and either hang it up or place it in the sun to dry. My dog weighs 60 lbs, and the extra-large fit perfectly. She has managed to wriggle out of it once, so I wouldn’t recommend leaving your dog unsupervised while wearing it. That said, she sleeps comfortably in it, so I know it’s not restrictive. As a bonus, one of my favorite moments was seeing both my dogs relaxing the night before surgery, captured in the second photo.

Our 10-year-old Great Dane suddenly lost the ability to get up, walk, or even stand on his own to relieve himself. This all happened over the weekend, and while we were waiting to get him into the vet, we ordered this sling. It allowed us to help him get up without straining him or ourselves by trying to awkwardly lift his 140-pound frame. It also provided the stability he needed to stand and eat, drink, and go to the bathroom without falling. Now that he’s going to the vet several times a week for therapy, this sling has become an invaluable tool. We use it to safely get him in and out of the car, and the clinic staff relies on it to walk him into the clinic and support him during therapy sessions. Even on days when he’s feeling a bit weaker or stiff, the sling continues to be a tremendous help, allowing us to assist him without causing him any discomfort. While it’s a loose fit, that actually works perfectly for him—it stays secure without being restrictive, and he’s comfortable enough to wear it almost all the time. I can’t imagine how much strain this has saved my husband and me, especially on our backs, from trying to awkwardly lift him without it. It also gives me the confidence to manage his care on my own when my husband isn’t around, despite the fact that I weigh less than our dog and am quite short. This product has truly been a game-changer during such a stressful and difficult time. For us, it’s not just a tool—it’s a life saver, a back saver, and so much more. We are incredibly grateful for it!

I ordered the extra large sling for my elderly 90-pound German Shepherd, and overall, it fit her well, though I do wish it were a bit longer to provide more support for her back legs. The Velcro is incredibly strong, which allows me to support most of her weight and help her walk outside to go potty when she experiences vertigo. While the price might seem a bit high, I can confidently say it’s 100% worth it—much easier and more reliable than using a sheet or towel as a makeshift sling. This sling has also been a lifesaver when it comes to standing her up and repositioning her to change her bedding when she was too weak to move on her own. I truly believe it helped speed up her recovery by keeping her on her feet and preventing muscle loss during her illness. A helpful tip for using the sling: if your dog is large or heavy, it’s a good idea to adjust the straps ahead of time before putting it on for the first time. I’ve found it much easier to slide her front paws through the leg holes while she’s still lying down, so when she stands up, all I need to do is quickly close the Velcro tabs. This is way more convenient than trying to get her to lift a paw while she’s already standing, especially since she’s often unsteady on her feet.

My dog suffered a grade 1-2 ligament sprain in her rear hock, and as ligaments take a long time to heal due to limited blood flow, I needed a solution for long-term support. This brace, with its lateral and medial flattened metal spring supports, has provided the best stability to aid in the recovery of her injury. My setter wore the brace daily for 8-10 months leading up to the fall hunting season, with the brace coming off only at night. During hunting season, she wears it for her 1-2 hunts, and while I found I needed to wrap black electrical tape around the Velcro straps to keep it secure while she’s hunting, it’s been a minor adjustment for the benefits we’ve seen. The only downside is some chafing on the hock when she runs, but even with this, it’s the best brace I’ve found for her injury. Without it, she wouldn’t be able to enjoy her normal 1-2 hour hunts for 40+ days during the NH upland bird season with our other setters, and for that, I’m extremely grateful

My rat terrier had an unfortunate fall, resulting in two torn ACLs in his back knees, and surgeries needed to be scheduled separately. The vet recommended the Holdemup harness, but being a dedicated Amazon shopper, I found this harness, which was nearly identical and priced similarly, with the added benefit of Prime shipping. My dog measured 23.5 inches, so I initially ordered the small (25”), but when it arrived, it was too small in every area. I quickly ordered a medium, but unfortunately, due to a misroute, the delivery was delayed, and my dog had to stay an extra two nights in the hospital, which was quite costly. If you’re between sizes, I strongly recommend sizing up or ordering two and returning one. When you need a harness like this, you need it right away! Getting my dog into the harness has been a bit of a process since he can’t use his back legs yet, but the harness itself is sturdy and comfortable enough for him to wear all day. The handles are perfectly placed for easy lifting. My husband also made a small cutout in the undercarriage for my dog’s penis, which I suggest doing for male dogs—utility scissors work well for this. It’s easy to clean too; I just washed it in the sink and let it drip dry overnight. Hopefully, you won’t ever need one of these, but if you do, I highly recommend it!
